Palonosetron

Palonosetron (Aloxi®) was approved by the FDA in 2003 to help prevent the nausea and vomiting sometimes caused by chemotherapyTreatment of cancer patients with anticancer drugs. Commonly called 'chemo'. These drugs work by attacking cell growth or division. Often these agents are used in combination to take advantage of their different modes of attack on cell division..1
Palonosetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It has a strong affinity for this receptor and little for any other type. Blocking this receptor prevents the activation of the vomiting reflex, as it works by blocking serotonin.1
