In the American Cancer Society’s recent releases, “Cancer Statistics, 2011” and “Cancer Facts and Figures 2011”, estimates indicate that the rate of death from cancers have steadily decreased between 1990 and 2007. There was a 22% reduction in deaths for men and 14% for women. This totals to around 898,000 deaths that have been prevented due to advances in prevention, detection, and treatments.
