Usage:

Loperamide (Imodium) is used to control bowel response in patients with severe reactions to cancer treatment drugs. This drug is given as an oral tablet or liquid. 1

Mechanism:

Loperamide slows down muscle contractions in the walls of the intestine. By decreasing the flow of fluids and electrolytes into the bowel system and slowing the movements of the bowel Loperamide decreases the number of bowel moments.1
